Ray's, opened in 1945 as a dockside cafe, has evolved over the years into one of Seattle's must-visit restaurants with a majestic view and an international reputation for great seafood and wine. They came to Hovie wanting a web site that could convey their quality, size, and history.
Hovie created a site that showcases the three divisions of Ray's Boathouse: the restaurant, cafe, and banquets & catering. Each section encorporates its own unique, rich color pallet and photography, and features extensive lunch, dinner, and drink menus. In addition, sections include photo galleries that introduce the viewer to the varied environments and settings that Ray's has to offer.
The development of the site included the addition of many innovative solutions that will allow Ray's in-house marketing team to more easily manage and update their site. One of the more helpful features allows the team to quickly change out and update photos from an ever evolving photo gallery database. This was was an extremely important feature as Ray's setting, on the water overlooking the Sound and Olympic Mountains, allows for endless, amazing photographic opportunities.
The entire project was a 6 month process that allowed Design Hovie Studios, the Ray's Boathouse Marketing team, and photographers Team Photogenic, to fully explore multiple possibilities and arrive at a wonderful solution.

Design Hovie Studios Inc. is an international graphic design boutique based in Seattle, USA, providing graphic solutions for web, print, and identity. Founded in 1998 by Creative Director Hovie Hawk, the studio has operated out of both Seattle and Milan, Italy. With Seattle now its base, the studio continues to maintain a presence in Milan through a working agreement with Qwentes Italia Srl.
