The City of Seattle's Department of Planning and Development came to Hovie with a need to create an attractive magazine / informational brochure to be sent out to home owners on Lake Washington. To protect aquatic ecosystems, regulatory agencies have been working toward more sustainable approches to shoreline stabilization. The relative scarcity of green shorelines has been a challenge in promoting alternatives to bulkheads, however; people are understandably skeptical when they haven't seen examples.

This guidebook addresses the problem by assembling photos, illustrations, and technical suggestions from a wide variety of sources and presenting them in an attractive and accessible format.
